Andrew Castle is one of the most experienced live presenters in British broadcasting, having occupied the famous GMTV sofa as an anchor for ten years before it was rebranded in 2010.
He is a former British Number One tennis player, who turned professional in 1986 after completing a marketing degree in the USA. He is also a double Olympian, having been a member of Great Britain’s Olympic Teams in Seoul in 1988 and Barcelona in 1992.
After retiring from the sport, Andrew joined Sky Television in 1992 to present their tennis coverage. He has presented numerous golf and tennis tournaments for Sky including the U.S. P.G.A. Tour, P.G.A. European Tour and the 1995, 1997 and 1999 Ryder Cups.
Since 2003, Andrew has worked alongside John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors and Boris Becker at The Championships, Wimbledon. He is the BBC’s lead commentator throughout Wimbledon fortnight, culminating in the Men’s Singles Final, which he has commentated on for the last eight years.
He hosts the ITV1 game show Divided which was recommissioned for 2010 and he also hosted Perseverence for the same channel in 2005.
He was a contestant on the 2008 edition of Strictly Come Dancing and has tested himself on Mastermind, Masterchef, A Question of Sport, All Star Family Fortunes and Beat the Star. Andrew has just been seen frozen and challenged to his limit on the toughest reality show ever, 71 Degrees North, which was on ITV1 this Autumn.
He has a regular tennis column for the Metro newspaper and is also a very popular draw for after dinner speaking, having hosted numerous leading national award ceremonies.
Andrew is equally adept at grilling politicians to conversing with Hollywood starlets. He has interviewed everyone from Tony Blair to Joan Rivers, the Rolling Stones to Miss Piggy, David Cameron to Vera Lynn and Tom Cruise to Jordan.
